Nancy Elizabeth Sloan
August 22, 1956 - June 20, 2024
Nancy Elizabeth Sloan, 67 of Lincoln, Nebraska went to be with her Savior on June 20, 2024 at home.
The Celebration of Life service will be held on June 27, 2024 at 11am Southern Heights Presbyterian Church in Lincoln with Pastor Leanne Masters officiating. Visitation will be on June 27, 2024 at 10am until the service time at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church.
Nancy Elizabeth Sloan was born August 22, 1956 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Richard and Elizabeth (Doty) Leitschuck. She grew up in Nebraska in: Lyons, Central City, Walthill, Spalding and South Sioux City. She graduated from South Sioux City Community High School in 1974.
She continued her education at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority and Phi Eta Sigma honorary society. Then proceeded to graduate with a Doctor of Pharmacy from University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska in 1980. While attending Pharmacy School she was a member of Kappa Epsilon, American Society of Hospital Pharmacist Association (ASHP), Nebraska Pharmacist Association (NPA) and served on several committees.
On August 30, 1980, Nancy was united in marriage to Joseph Wesley Sloan, Jr. (MD) at Dundee Presbyterian Church in Omaha, Nebraska. Together they grew in their careers while Joe continued his studies and internships and Nancy worked at numerous hospitals: The University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB); New York Hospital , New York, New York; M.D. Anderson, Houston, Texas; Beatrice Community Hospital, Beatrice, Nebraska; University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics (UIAC), Iowa City, Iowa; M.D. Anderson, Houston, Texas; Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, Nebraska; Regional West Medical Center, Scottsbluff, Nebraska and Bryan Medical Center, Lincoln, Nebraska.
She also served on a medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic.
Nancy retired from her clinical hospital pharmacist position in June 2022 after mentoring and serving others for 42 years.
Nancy enjoyed traveling, especially golf trips with her beloved Joe. She was an avid reader finding joy out of listening to audio books. She delighted in generously caring for others including: her family, her friends and her dogs. She made the most delicious chocolate brownies. Nancy was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt and friend.
Nancy was a faithful member of Southern Heights Presbyterian Church where she was active in Presbyterian Women, Esther Circle and served as a Deacon. She was a member and officer in P.E.O. in Chapters: HN, Scottsbluff and FB, Lincoln.
